I’m not sure if Motherhood is the first movie about a mom blogger, but this is, without a doubt, one of the first.
Below is the trailer for Motherhood where Uma Thurman plays a New York City mom blogger who faces myriad challenges during one day as an urban mother of two young children in Manhattan. Just judging from the trailer I can already tell this is a movie rife with Hollywood hyperbole rather than the everyday reality of moms, more about maternal stereotyping than the actual life of an authentic mom blogger.
Thurman playing a mom blogger is probably utilized solely as a film prop and marketing ploy to attract our attention. Then again, I have not seen the movie, so take my comments from the perspective of someone who simply fell upon this trailer by happenstance.
Motherhood comes out in theaters in October. Below is an interview with the director Katherine Dieckmann along with Thurman and Anthony Edwards, who plays Thurman’s husband. What do you think? Will you go see it?
