[Travel Photos] My Visit to Jama Masjid in Old Delhi

Jama Masjid
Thanks to consummate travel blogger Nicole Melancon who traveled with me to India to visit Social Good Moms’ partners last month I was able to soak up some culture before leaving Delhi. On our last day in India, Nicole treated me to a wonderful sight-seeing trip with a private tour guide. Although I had a severe case of Delhi belly that day I was able to will myself out of the car to take photos of Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India.

Built between 1650 and 1656 Jama Masjid is still in use today and can accommodate 25,000 worshipers in its courtyard. Jama Masjid was built by Emperor Shahjahan who also built the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort during the golden age of Mughal architecture. Visiting Jama Masjid makes me want to learn more about the architecture of the era because it was absolutely gorgeous. Also, I now want to visit the Taj Mahal even though all my life it’s never been on any of my travel to-do lists.
